Zermatt

A 4 hour train journey through Brig led us to a paradise in Switzerland - Zermatt. We checked into a hotel called "Star Hotel" that had excellent rooms,a healthy breakfast and a server who was warm, welcoming and talkative. The view from the room was adorable.

Zermatt is a car free town with electric cars plying all over.

We had an unforgettable cog-rail trip that took us to the 3,089 metres Gonergratt.

Winding it's way up the hill side, the 90 minutes ride gave a wonderful view of alpine peaks the beauty of which was incomparable.

That evening Bo had one of his memorable chicken dish in a chinese restaurant. The next day we did some shopping along the streets near the train station.

Zermatt is a harmonious blend of traditional dark wooden chalets sit alongside contemporary hotels. It is a vacation village and it is worth paying atleast one more visit.

Switzerland

Switzerland was the first foreign country that I visited, needless to say we went for our honeymoon.Megallan Travels had planned a beautiful 10 day trip that covered all the hot spots of the country from south to north.Me and Bo got thermal wear and shoes, packed our things and rushed to the airport to board the Lufthansa flight.

Day 1
We reached Geneva ,in the airport we were supposed to collect our hotel booking details and train passes.Megallan Travels had faxed our documents to Zurich instead of Geneva which lead to a lot of confusion. We checked into the "International Terminus" hotel that was very close to the train station. The rooms were comfortable and the breakfast was good.

I had spaghetti and Bo had a thin crust pizza in a nearby restaurant and I grabbed some bananas from a grocery.

The tallest fountain in the world of Lake Geneva ,"Jet d'Eau" is an attraction that cannot be missed and we were no exception. The lake is the largest in central Europe that is shared by both Switzerland and France.

Day 2
We boarded a train to Lausanne which is situated on the shores of Lake Geneva.

The train journey on the bank of the lake was awesome. The beauty of the alpine panorama, quaint wooden chalet villages, vineyard-covered slopes and sailboats skimming across the blue waters are just beyond words.

We went to a church and spent some time in a park.

Just 30 mins away from Lausanne is Montreux which is apparently the most frequented resort on Lake Geneva.

After a long walk along the lake we reached the "Chateau de Chillon" castle. It is a historical site as well as a beauty spot.

Tirupati 2006

This was our first trip together on March 03 2006 ,the day after our engagement.Bo,his parents and his brother Arun came to pick me up morning 6 AM.Me and Bo went by "wheely" ,our Honda City car following his parents and Arun.We had breakfast in "Highway Inn" which on the B'lore highway.
Before we entered Tirupati Arun found a scenic sunflower field. He parked his car and shot a beautiful photo of me and Bo in the sunflower field. This is by far the only photo where bo looks thin and one of my favorite and ofcourse it is special becuase this is our first photo together. The same evening after visiting the temple we returned and I was dropped home at 12 midnight.
